1Q26: Core profit in line with estimates

1Q26 core profit was in line with estimates at Bt486mn, -23% YoY and -2% QoQ. GFPT has cut its 2026 export sales volume target by 5%, reflecting muted demand from Japan and the absence of exports to China, partially offset by slightly higher orders from Europe. We have therefore reduced our 2026F earnings forecast by 10%, factoring in a lower gross margin and weaker equity income due to softer export volume. We expect 2Q26F to drop YoY off last year’s high base for exports, but rise QoQ on seasonality. We stay NEUTRAL and cut our end-2026 SOTP TP to Bt10 (from Bt12), after lowering our forecast, based on PE of 5-7x for feed, farm and food units

1Q26 net profit at Bt517mn, -19% YoY but +17% QoQ. Excluding a one-off FX gain of Bt31mn, 1Q26 core profit was Bt486mn, -23% YoY and -2% QoQ, in line with estimates. The YoY drop came from lower equity income and sales from weaker export sales volume that outpaced the wider gross margin and well controlled SG&A/sales.

1Q26 highlights. Sales fell 8% YoY on weak sales in all units led by food (-13% YoY, lower direct export & indirect export sales to McKey), feed (-4% YoY) and farm units (-2% YoY). Direct food unit export sales volume was 7,500 tons, -14% YoY on lower sales in Europe and Malaysia, stable sales in Japan, and no exports to China (8% of its 2025 export sales) and -6% QoQ. Prices to Europe and Japan for the industry were US$4,400/ton (+5% YoY, flat QoQ) and US$4,500/ton (-6% YoY and QoQ). Local chicken rib byproduct price fell YoY to Bt13/kg, -22% YoY but +26% QoQ. Gross margin was 14.6%, +60bps YoY from lower feedstock costs. Equity income fell 54% YoY on a drop in contribution from McKey (-36% YoY, weaker margin despite better export sales volume) and GFN (-93% YoY on lower export sales to Europe and no exports to China, which took 7% of GFN’s 2025 export sales, and low local byproduct prices).

Key takeaways from meeting. 2026F targets. GFPT cut its direct export sales target by 5% to 32,500 tons (-2% YoY) from 34,000 tons, with more exports to Europe (38% of 2025 export sales) and Malaysia (18%), stable exports to Japan (26%), and no exports to China (8%) in 2026 on that country’s slowdown/ban on imports from Thailand since Sep 2025 on charges of misuse of export quotas by the industry. GFPT expects 2026F gross margin to slip to 15-16% (vs 16.4% in 2025) on relatively stable local and export prices amid a gradual rise in feed costs off a low base and a less favorable product mix after switching chicken feet sales from China to the domestic market at a price 20-25% lower. Contribution from McKey and GFN is expected to be stable YoY, without new capacity additions. 2Q26. In 2Q26TD, spot corn cost and imported soybean meal edged up to Bt11/kg (+8% QoQ, flat YoY) and Bt16.5/kg (+7% QoQ, +2% YoY), from higher oil prices and slightly tighter supply. GFPT keeps its feed inventory level at the normal level of about three months. In 2Q26TD, local broiler and chicken rib byproduct prices are Bt40/kg (flat QoQ but +2% YoY, vs breakeven costs at Bt39.5/kg) and Bt12.5/kg (-15% YoY, -4% QoQ), hit directly by softer local demand and indirectly by lower local swine prices (substitute protein). For exports, advance orders seem slightly better than in 1Q26, but have yet to return to the normal level seen in 2Q25. GFPT expects 2Q26F direct export sales volume of 8,000 tons (+7% QoQ, -6% YoY), with better orders from Europe, low orders from Japan and none from China. As for export prices (CIF terms, where GFPT is responsible for higher shipment costs), it expects a slight 5% QoQ rise in export price to Europe to partly compensate for higher freight and transportation costs, amid relatively stable export prices in Asia.

Key risks are changes in feed costs and government policies, higher swine supply (substitute protein). Key ESG risks are energy, waste & water management, sustainable products (E), health & safety policies for customers and labor (S).
