Preview 2Q25: Profit to soften QoQ

We estimate a 43% QoQ drop in net profit in 2Q25 to Bt2.5bn, dragged by softer oil sales in mobility and global segments and lower gross margin per liter amid heightened competition and promotions. The lifestyle segment is doing well, with a strong EBITDA margin and record-high Café Amazon sales. Management downplays the impact of Thailand-Cambodia tensions but may reassess its Cambodia strategy if the situation escalates. We maintain OUTPERFORM with a TP of Bt16.40 (end-2025), based on 8.4x EV/EBITDA.

Mobility: lower sales volume and marketing margin. We estimate a drop in OR’s oil sales volume in the domestic market of 5% QoQ to 6,373mn liters, mainly in the commercial segment (-10% QoQ). Retail sales volume is expected to improve 4% QoQ due to marketing activities to increase market share, beating the flat growth for Thailand’s oil consumption in Apr-May, according to the data from the Ministry of Energy. Market share in the retail segment continued to gradually improve to 35.4% in May from 35% in Jan, thanks to its marketing efforts. We estimate a fall in gross profit/liter of 11% QoQ to Bt0.91/liter due to marketing campaigns and higher competition.

Lifestyle: record high Cafe Amazon cups sold and strong EBITDA margin. Management says cups sold at Café Amazon rose 4.9% YoY and 2.9% QoQ to a record 107mn cups in 2Q25, implying a 2% QoQ increase in cups sold/store. We expect it to sustain EBITDA margin at 29% despite continued loss contribution from F&F. Loss contribution from F&F is expected to persist during the trial phase as it works to streamline to obtain the best model for expansion. Although performance at store level has improved, it has to pay consulting expenses until end-2Q25.

Global: decline in oil sales volume in the Philippines weighed. We expect a 34% YoY and 41% QoQ drop in profit contribution, on lower oil sales in the Philippines and margin pressure from competition. OR expanded its footprint with new service stations and Café Amazon outlets in Cambodia despite ongoing political tensions. Most assets are urban-based, with over 90% of stations dealer-owned and operated; Café Amazon is run as a franchise. The company may reassess its Cambodia strategy if the situation continues to escalate.

Low season to affect 3Q25 outlook. Rainy season in Thailand is expected to eat into OR’s oil sales volume in 3Q25. This could also impact sales volume at Café Amazon due to lower traffic at its service stations.

TP of Bt16.4 based on EV/EBITDA of 8.4x. TP of Bt16.40 is based on 8.4x EV/EBITDA, 30% below 5-year average on conservative assumptions of Bt0.85 gross margin/liter and 25% lifestyle EBITDA margin. This implies 2025F PE of 16.7x and PBV of 1.7x, below 2022–24 averages of 24x and 2.2x, offering valuation upside.

Risk factors: An economic slowdown would erode demand for OR’s oil and non-oil products while oil price volatility may cause more stock losses. Other risks are government intervention in capping retail oil price, particularly diesel, and higher competition and operating cost that cannot be passed on.
