3Q25: Beat on EBITDA margin and tax
BDMS reported 3Q25 net profit of Bt4.3bn, up 2% YoY and 24% QoQ, 5% above INVX and market estimates due to a high EBITDA margin and lower tax expenses. October revenue growth of 7% YoY, up from 1% YoY in 3Q25, suggests operations are continuing to improve in 4Q25. Despite a 5% price rise yesterday, valuation remains low at 18x 2026 PE or below -2SD of its historical average. We rate Outperform on BDMS with a mid-2026 DCF TP of Bt28.
3Q25: Beat estimates. BDMS reported 3Q25 net profit of Bt4.3bn, up 2% YoY and 24% QoQ, 5% above INVX and market estimates. It overcame the usual YoY fall in profit on a high EBITDA margin and lower taxes. QoQ growth was seasonal.
Highlights:
- 3Q25 revenue was Bt27bn (up 1% YoY and 6% QoQ). Growth was slow in both Thai patient services (74% of revenue, up 1% YoY and 8% QoQ) off last year’s unusually high base in July-August following an influenza outbreak, and in international patient services (26% of revenue, up 1% YoY and 2% QoQ) on a weak Cambodia market, where revenue plunged 65% YoY due to the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict. Excluding Cambodia, international patient service revenue would have grown 10% YoY, driven by patients from Myanmar (up 35% YoY), the US (up 20% YoY), the Middle East (up 11% YoY) and Europe (up 9%)
- EBITDA margin was 25.3% in 3Q25, improving from 25.2% in 3Q24 and 22.8% in 2Q25, reflecting good cost control.
- Tax expenses were Bt973mn (down 16% YoY but up 16% QoQ), lowering the effective tax rate to 18% thanks to receiving BoI tax privileges for its digital transformation project and energy-saving initiatives.
4Q25 operations update. BDMS reports greater revenue growth in October, up 7% YoY (vs 1% YoY in 3Q25). Behind this was 8% YoY growth in Thai patient services on a wider influenza outbreak and growth in private health insurance customers, and 3% YoY growth in international patient services, with continuing growth in key markets offsetting the weak Cambodia market. BDMS expects 2025 revenue growth of 4% YoY (vs a 4-6% YoY target) and an EBITDA margin of 24% (vs a 24-25% range), at the lower end due to the Thailand-Cambodia situation.
Earnings fine-tuned. We revise up core earnings by 1% in 2025 to factor in a lower effective tax rate but maintain our 2026 forecast. In 4Q25, we expect core earnings to be flat or grow slightly both YoY and QoQ. While operations are improving, growth is coming off a high earnings base in 4Q24 and 3Q25, which were boosted by exceptionally low tax expenses. We rate BDMS as Outperform with a mid-2026 DCF TP of Bt28, based on WACC at 7.3% and long-term growth at 3%.
Risks. We are keeping an eye on the global economic slowdown and geopolitical risk that may cause clients to delay elective medical care and make it inconvenient for international patients to come to Thailand for treatment. However, we see this risk as diluted by its large revenue base of Thai patients and its diversified portfolio of international patient services. We see ESG risk as patient safety (S): BDMS has adopted a variety of quality assurance systems to provide continuous patient care.
