After the analyst meeting, we keep KKP as Neutral with a slight hike in TP to Bt54 from Bt53 in recognition of a good dividend yield of 7.6%. KKP cut its 2025F guidance on: 1) credit cost, on better-than-expected HP asset quality, 2) loan growth to continued loan contraction and 3) loan spread on a slower ease in cost of funds. We see positive developments in wealth & asset management from its collaboration with GSAM, which should offset the weaker banking business.
Cut credit cost guidance. Better asset quality on HP loans and lower loss on repossessed cars led KKP to cut its 2025 credit cost guidance to 1.8-2% from 2.2-2.4% vs. 1.88% in 1H25 (KKP calculations), suggesting it expects HoH stable credit cost. However, it raised 2025 NPL ratio guidance from 4.1-4.3% to 4.3-4.5% vs. 4.3% (KKP calculations) at 2Q25. We conservatively maintain our 2025F credit cost (including loss on sale of repossessed cars) at 1.9% (-35 bps) vs. 1.82% in 1H25 (INVX calculations), expecting an HoH rise in 2H25 on a potentially weaker macro backdrop. KKP expects loss on sales of repossessed cars to come down further in 2H25 but at a slower pace than in 1H25. Repossessed vehicle inventory decreased from 2,502 units at 1Q25 to around 2,000 units, the lowest in two years.
Lower loan growth guidance. KKP lowered its 2025 loan growth guidance to a contraction of 5-8% from 0% vs. -2.6% YTD due to a more cautious stand amidst a potential economic slowdown. We thus cut our 2025F loan growth to a contraction of 5% from -3%.
Cut loan spread guidance. KKP cut its 2025 loan spread guidance to 4.5% from 4.8-4.9% vs. 4.5% in 1H25 (KKP calculations), as a result of a slower-than-expected fall in cost of funds. It expects cost of funds to fall 10 bps in 2H25 as a result of a higher proportion of current & savings deposits (35% at 2Q25 vs. 32% at 1Q25) and a downward re-pricing of its high-cost deposits. We expect its NIM to flatten out in 2H25 and then pick up in 2026. We assume a narrowing in NIM of 28 bps in 2025 before it picks up 4 bps in 2026.
Collaboration with GSAM = Enhances fee income growth. We raise our 2025F fee income growth to 10% from 8% to factor in its exclusive strategic collaboration with Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) effective July, which will enhance its wealth and asset management business.
Raise 2025F slightly. We inch up our 2025F by 1% after adjusting our fee income assumptions. We now expect 2025F earnings to fall 3%, with a 3% contraction in loans, a drop of 27 bps in NIM, a 35 bps drop in credit cost, a 3% rise in non-NII and a rise in cost to income ratio. We expect 3Q25F earnings to fall QoQ (higher credit cost and lower NII from loan contraction) and YoY (lower NII).
Sustainable 2025F DPS. We expect KKP to sustain 2025F DPS at Bt4 (Bt1.25 interim), equivalent to 7.6% dividend yield (2.4% interim).
Maintain Neutral with a slight TP hike. We keep our Neutral rating with a hike in TP to Bt54 (based on 0.7x PBV for 2025F) from Bt53 to reflect the good dividend yield of 7.9%.
Key risks: 1) Asset quality risk from economic slowdown and trade war, 2) falling used car prices, 3) volatile capital market and 4) ESG risk on market conduct.
