CPAXT – พรีวิว 3Q66: คาดกำไรปรับตัวดีขึ้น YoY KKP – ปรับลดเป้าหมายปี 2566 อีกครั้ง Weak signal |

Market today | The SET does not show a clear turn signal and saw some selling during the recovery period. The upper bound is limited at resistances of 1,411 and 1,424; negative sentiment from US markets may lead to weakening to supports of 1,390 and 1,383. | Today’s highlights | • The Ministry of Finance has postponed the digital wallet from Feb to Apr-May 2024 and the funds will be largely sourced from the national budget. Conditions may also change, with the funds given to those who hold welfare cards (16mn) or by excluding those who have income above Bt25-50k per month or deposits of Bt100k-500k. KTB will be responsible for development of the system. • The Ministry of Finance said the cost of the government loan portfolio rose to above 3% from the 2.6% in Aug, with national debt reaching Bt11.03tn, or 61.78% of GDP. • Sugar price will be adjusted up by Bt4/kg by this month as cost of production is up Bt2/kg, with a contribution to the cane and sugar fund of Bt2/kg. • EIA reported an increase in US crude oil inventory of 1.4mn bbl last week, above the 2.4mn bbl expected. • Israel’s prime minister is planning a ground attack in the Gaza strip as Hamas continues to hold many hostages. • The US House voted Mike Johnson in as new Speaker, ending three weeks of a leadership vacuum. It has voted to support Israel in its war against Hamas. • US new home sales in Sep rose by 12.3%MoM to 759k units, the highest since Feb 2022 and higher than the 680k expected. | Strategy today | In the short term the SET is expected to able to recover and rebound, but upside is limited as the market is keeping an eye on the situation in the Middle East to see if the conflict will spread to Iran, as well as concerns over inflation and bond yields that may cause volatility. At home, keep an eye on whether the number of foreign tourists entering Thailand shows any deterioration after the shooting at the beginning of the month and for clarification of the digital wallet. Our strategy is selective buy. | Trading today | Weekly portfolio: This week the SET is expected to have some recovery or rebound, but the upside is limited as there are risks, both domestic and external. We recommend “selective buy” in themes with specific drivers: 1) Speculative stocks expected to benefit from oil price if it rises or stays at this already high level in view of concerns that tension in the Middle East will affect oil supply – BCP, PTTEP and TOP. 2) Undervalued stocks whose prices have fallen into the oversold zone, with strong fundamentals and inexpensive valuation (PER and PBV 2023F below 5-year average) – BDMS, CPALL, CPN and MINT. 3) Stocks whose profit is expected to be good through 4Q23 (+YoY and +QoQ) – AP, AOT, BLA, BCH, CENTEL and KCE, which has already passed bottom (+QoQ). In the medium term we recommend being cautious on stocks that are expected to be affected by El Nino, which will erode purchasing power in the agricultural sector: Commerce (GLOBAL), Finance (MTC, SAWAD), Automotive (SAT, STANLY), Food & Agriculture (CPF and GFPT) and Beverages (CBG has high sugar cost). | Daily top picks | CPAXT: 3Q23 core profit is expected to be Bt1.76bn, growing 10%YoY and 14%QoQ, outperforming the sector, backed by lower financial cost after finishing lower-cost refinancing. 4Q23 core profit is expected to be this year’s peak, growing YoY and QoQ. BDMS: This is a defensive stock in this currently highly volatile market. Price is down 6.9%YTD, less than the SET’s -16.0%YTD, and is undervalued, priced below its intrinsic value, yet fundamentals remain strong with profit steadily growing. | Today’s reports | CPAXT – Preview 3Q23F: Improving YoY KKP – Cuts 2023 guidance again |
