BCH CPALL GULF MTC OR TRUE

Daily top picks

To rebound, expect trade improvement

The SET is expected to move sideways up after it was able to stay above 1127, reaching a low of 1129. Supports are 1127/1120, and if it can hold above that, a rebound is expected with resistances at 1145/1150. The US has responded to Thailand and will continue trade negotiations, now waiting for a schedule.

Today’s highlights

• The Minister of Foreign Affairs says the US is ready for trade negotiations. The Minister of Finance will meet separately with three US agencies: USTR, the US Treasury Department and the US Commerce Department, with a schedule expected soon.
• The Minister of Finance outlined investment promotion strategies through multiple policies including: investment in emerging industries such as data centers, AI, EV and biotech; enhancing stock market transparency and confidence; improving investment-friendly regulations; and infrastructure investment including green electricity with rates not exceeding Bt3.50/unit.
• The US Labor Department reported non-farm payrolls increased by 139,000 positions in May, exceeding market expectations and easing labor market concerns. Trump again called the Fed chairman, urging him to cut policy rates by as much as 1%.
• The Ministry of Commerce reports inflation contracted 0.57%YoY in May, the second month of decline due to lower vegetable, fruit and energy prices, bringing average inflation for 5M25 to expansion of 0.48%YoY. June inflation is expected to continue to decline due to lower global oil prices and reduced electricity rates of Bt3.98/unit for May-August 2025 billing period.
• The Ministry of Commerce says the Thai-Cambodia border closure will impact exports of beverages, automotive components and machinery, and imports of cassava, scrap metal, electrical wire, and animal feed. This is expected to slice ~90% off the Bt175bn total value of the border trade. Bilateral negotiations are scheduled for June 14.

Strategy today

In the short term the SET is expected to move sideways as there are many factors to follow: trade negotiations between the US and trading partners, especially China, India and Japan, political uncertainty (a cabinet reshuffle) and the effect brought by the calculation adjustment for DELTA to comply with the limit of a single stock weighting in SET50/SET100 at 10% starting on Jul 1. On Jun 10 there may be progress on tourism stimulus, but this may not significantly impact the SET. We believe the SET has already passed its critical point (downside of 1032), which reflected the worst-case scenario for US tariffs. We retain our view of an opportunity to accumulate if the SET falls to 1120-1100. Our investment strategy remains "Selective Buy".

Trading today

The many uncertainties are expected to keep the SET moving sideways: US trade negotiations, politics and SET50/SET100 index calculation adjustment. Our investment strategy is for "selective buy" in four main themes and two trading themes with specific positive factors:
1. Earnings plays with 2Q25 profit expected to grow strongly, and core profit growth both YoY and QoQ – ADVANC, TRUE, CPALL, BTG and CPF.
2. SET50 stocks with SETESG rating higher than A, with dividend yield of above 5% expected, and on which we recommend Outperform – PTT, KTB, BBL and HMPRO.
3. Stocks expected to be targets of ThaiESGX: 1) 2025 profit is expected to grow,
2) financial position is strong and 3) are steady dividend payers - ADVANC, BDMS, CPALL, PTT, BCH, BTG and AP.
4. Defensive stocks whose revenue is largely domestic. For risk-averse investors waiting for greater clarity on Trump’s tariffs – BCH, CPALL, GULF, MTC, OR, TRUE.
5. Trading idea: For high-risk takers who want to speculate. 1) Stocks likely to benefit from passive funds reducing DELTA holdings to 10% and increasing others in SET50 – PTT, ADVANC, AOT, GULF and CPF and 2) stocks who can recover quickly once there is progress on trade negotiations – AMATA, AOT, MINT, PTT, TU and WHA.

Daily top picks

BBL: Price has a catalyst from fund flow. It has the most attractive valuation among peers, trading at PBV 0.5x. Quality asset risk from the trade war is manageable given its large customers, strong financial position, high LLR coverage and the only bank showing loan growth. The stock pays a high dividend, with dividend yield estimated at 6.2%.

MINT: Price is supported by signs of tourism recovery. 2Q25 core profit is expected to improve YoY, underwritten by a strong hospitality business and lower interest expense and QoQ due to high season in Europe. MINT’s earnings growth in 2Q25 will lead peers and it is our top pick.
