4Q25: In line with estimates

4Q25 core profit was in line at Bt966mn, -14% YoY and -19% QoQ. We expect 1Q26F core earnings to be stable/up YoY on better sales (off a low base) and controlled SG&A/sales that will offset a weaker gross margin (ambient price still does not cover US tariff costs) but down QoQ on seasonality. The continued price adjustment for the ambient unit and rising benefit but lower costs from the transformation program will help support YoY earnings growth for the rest of 2026F. We maintain Outperform with an end-2026 TP of Bt15.5 (from Bt15 at mid-2026), based on 15x PE (avg 10-year PE).

4Q25 net profit was in line at Bt1bn, -17% YoY and -22% QoQ. Excluding a Bt47mn one-off gain, 4Q25 core profit was Bt966mn, -14% YoY and -19% QoQ. The YoY decline reflects a narrower gross margin but stable sales and controlled SG&A/sales. The QoQ drop was seasonal. TU announced a 2H25 DPS of Bt0.35 (XD Mar 2).

4Q25 highlights. Sales were flat YoY, with the unfavorable FX impact of 0.8% YoY balanced by organic sales growth of 0.7% YoY in the pet care and frozen units. Pet care sales grew 1% YoY from a rise in sales volume in the US and Europe and new product launches, and sales in the frozen unit grew 3% YoY off a rise in sales volume in the feed segment and adjustment of frozen product prices to reflect US tariffs. However, sales in the ambient unit fell 2% YoY on lower selling price as the adverse FX impact outpaced better sales volume in Europe and the US. Gross margin slimmed 220bps YoY to 18.4% as lower margin at the ambient unit (US tariff cost not yet fully passed through in product prices plus higher tuna raw material costs) outpaced a wider margin at the pet care unit (high premium sales and improved cost efficiency) and at the frozen unit (wider margin at the feed unit, and higher frozen product selling price to price in higher US tariffs). SG&A/sales fell 10bps YoY to 13.9% on a drop in transformation costs to Bt156mn (-48% YoY and -26% QoQ) that was able to offset higher marketing and logistics expenses.

Guidance. 2026 targets. In 2026, TU targets sales growth of 3–4% YoY, driven by all business segments (led by pet food, where sales are set to grow 8-11% YoY), partially offset by the assumption of a stronger THB at Bt32.5/US$ (vs Bt32.9/US$ in 2025). TU guides to a 2026 gross margin of 19–20% (vs 18.9% in 2025), supported by a better margin at the ambient and frozen businesses with better price adjustment to cover costs. Pet care margins tend to be stable, as the absence of its US price support for tariffs for some customers will be offset by a less favorable product‑mix shift (higher portion of lower‑margin mid‑priced products to boost sales & economies of scale). SG&A/sales is expected at 13.5–14.5% (vs 14.3% in 2025), with lower transformation costs after the completion of the Sonar program at end-2025 (completion of the Tailwind program is scheduled for end-2026) and lower office rental expense (~Bt60mn/year after purchasing office space in the SM Tower for Bt665mn in 1Q26) balancing higher marketing and logistic expenses. Although the offer by Mitsubishi Corporation (MC; 6% holding in TU) to acquire another 14% in TU was cancelled in Sep 2025, their strategic partnership is unchanged, with more plans to expand TU’s frozen (sushi) sales in the US and more pet care sales in Japan. 1Q26TD situation. TU notes that US demand remains solid though it implemented another round of price increases on its branded ambient products in January after the initial adjustment in 3Q25. While the higher prices still do not fully offset the higher tariffs, they should allow a sequential improvement in gross margin in 1Q26 vs 4Q25. Over the remainder of 2026, it plans to step prices up gradually to where they fully cover tariff-related expenses, while closely monitoring US consumer demand given price increases across all food categories.

Key risks: Inflationary pressure and strong THB. Key ESG risks are GHG emissions, waste management (E), customer welfare, product quality management, safety policies (S).
