2Q26F: Weak quarter; rating unchanged
OR faces a difficult earnings period, with a 2Q26F net loss of Bt1.68bn expected from inventory losses, negative NRV adjustments, and weaker oil sales. The 3Q26 outlook remains soft due to seasonally lower fuel demand and weak overseas operations. We cut our 2026F net profit forecast by 30% and lower our TP to Bt16 from Bt18, based on 7.5x EV/EBITDA (-1SD below the three-year average). However, we maintain OUTPERFORM rating, as recent share price weakness largely reflects near-term risks. Its lifestyle business, led by record Café Amazon sales and EBITDA margin above 30%, continues to strengthen earnings resilience.
Mobility earnings under pressure. We expect mobility earnings to weaken sharply QoQ as oil sales volume declined across retail and commercial channels following a high March base, when panic buying linked to the Middle East conflict temporarily boosted demand. Gross profit is estimated to fall to Bt0.45/liter as OR recorded nearly Bt9bn in inventory losses, versus a Bt12bn inventory gain in 1Q26, more than offsetting the benefit from the lagged aviation fuel pricing adjustment.
Lifestyle continues to outperform. We estimate lifestyle earnings improved further in 2Q26, supported by strong summer demand. Café Amazon cup sales likely reached a record 116mn, driven by network expansion to 4,869 outlets nationwide. We also estimate cups sold per outlet rose around 2.2% QoQ, reflecting healthy same-store demand growth. Combined with operating leverage, this should keep EBITDA margin above 30% and further strengthen the segment's position as OR's key earnings contributor.
Overseas operations remain weak. We expect global earnings to decline further QoQ, reflecting outlet closures in Cambodia, weaker sales in the Philippines amid intensifying competition, and lower gross profit/liter across overseas operations. While management continues to optimize its international footprint, earnings recovery is likely to remain gradual given the challenging competitive environment and limited demand visibility.
3Q26 outlook remains soft. We expect 3Q26 earnings to remain subdued amid seasonally weaker transport fuel demand following the peak travel period. Lifestyle earnings are also likely to ease after record 2Q26 performance, while global operations remain pressured by operational and competitive challenges. Although inventory losses should normalize if oil prices stabilize, we see limited near-term catalysts and expect profitability to remain below three-year average.
TP and earnings forecast are cut. We lower our TP for OR to Bt16 from Bt18, based on 7.5x EV/EBITDA, following a cut in 2026F net profit forecast by 30% to reflect inventory loss in 2Q26 and weaker oil demand outlook through 3Q26. While earnings momentum is likely to remain soft in the near term, we maintain OUTPERFORM as we believe the recent share price correction has largely priced in these headwinds. We continue to see valuation support from OR's resilient lifestyle business should help offset cyclical weakness in mobility and overseas operations.
Risk factors: An economic slowdown could weaken demand for OR’s oil and non-oil products, while oil price volatility may cause inventory losses. Other risks are diesel price caps, tough competition, and rising costs that are not fully passed on.
