2Q26F preview: Down QoQ, up nicely YoY
We expect 2Q26F earnings to fall 7% QoQ (mainly from higher credit costs) but rise 15% YoY (from higher toplines) to Bt1.50bn. We forecast TIDLOR to achieve the highest earnings growth among peers at 22% in 2026, driven by the widest NIM expansion, the largest drop in credit costs, and the strongest fee income growth. However, we believe that 1Q26 earnings were the peak of this year as we expect a QoQ rise in credit costs and opex over the rest of the year. We maintain our OUTPERFORM rating with a rolled-over TP of Bt22 from Bt21. TIDLOR's ongoing share buyback program should further support its share price.
2Q26F preview: Down QoQ, up nicely YoY. We expect 2Q26F earnings to fall 7% QoQ (mainly from higher credit cost) but rise 15% YoY (from higher toplines) to Bt1.50bn, with the following expectations.
1) Credit cost: +58 bps QoQ (-36 bps YoY) to 2.3% due to an absence of a reversal of ECL and higher NPLs.
2) Loan growth: +1.6% QoQ (+5.4%YoY), accelerating from merely 0.3% QoQ in 1Q26 due to a relaxation in credit policy and seasonality.
3) NIM: +19 bps QoQ (from a seasonal rise in loan yield from higher days) and +52 bps YoY (due to lower cost of funds and higher loan yield).
4) Non-NII: -3% QoQ (low season for insurance brokerage income) but +7% YoY.
5) Cost to income ratio: +35 bps QoQ (on seasonality) and +19 bps YoY to 54.75%.
Strong 2026F earnings growth among peers. We forecast TIDLOR to have the highest earnings growth among its peers at 22% in 2026, underpinned by 1) 5% loan growth, 2) a 29 bps NIM expansion from better loan yield and lower cost of funds, 3) a 39 bps drop in credit cost, 4) a 7% rise in non-NII, and 5) a 93 bps drop in cost-to-income ratio to 54.4%. However, we believe that 1Q26 earnings were the peak of this year as we expect a QoQ rise in credit cost and opex over the rest of the year.
Treasury stock program. TIDLOR currently has a share buyback program budgeted at a maximum of Bt2.4bn between May 28 and Nov 27, 2026. It will purchase a maximum of 122.824mn shares, representing no more than 4.24% of total shares. So far, the company has bought 18.97mn shares (0.66% of total shares). This will support its share price and enhance ROE by around 100 bps.
Maintain OUTPERFORM with a rolled-over TP. We maintain our Outperform rating with a hike in TP to Bt22 (based on 1.5x PBV or 10.7x PE) from Bt21 as we roll over the valuation base to mid-2027.
Key risks: 1) Asset quality risk from an economic slowdown and inflationary pressure from the energy crisis arising from the Middle East conflict, 2) credit cost risk from a fall in used vehicle prices, 3) NIM risk from possibility of a policy rate hike to cope with rising inflation, 4) regulatory risk and 5) ESG risk from market conduct.
