Margin expansion underpins 2H26F
We expect its 2H26F earnings to continue growing YoY, driven by further gross margin expansion from the full-quarter impact of product price adjustments implemented in 2Q26 and a higher private-brand sales mix, alongside manageable SG&A/sales and eight new store openings in 2H26F, despite our conservative assumption of slightly negative SSS. While July SSS remained soft at -1% YoY for HomePro and +1% YoY for MegaHome amid weak steel demand and lower steel prices, we believe downside risk is limited as steel prices have fallen below pre-war levels. We maintain Outperform with a new mid-2027 DCF-based TP of Bt8.2 (from Bt8.0 at end-2026) on roll-over.
2H26F gross margin to continue to widen YoY. Gross margin improvement is one of key drivers of 2Q26 earnings growth (+14% YoY), and we expect this factor to continue in 2H26F. Its gross margin expanded 190bps YoY to 27.7% in 2Q26, tracking a similar trend seen across discretionary retailers. About 50-70bps of the improvement came from a better sales mix, driven by higher private-brand sales (up by 1% YoY for HomePro and 2% YoY for MegaHome, reaching 21.8% for HomePro and 23.2% for MegaHome sales at end-2Q26), while the remainder was supported by gradual price increases for general merchandise (excluding steel products) and house brands, alongside benefits from low-cost inventories (based on its 4-month stock on hand). Management expects gross margin to widen further by 30-70bps YoY in 2H26F. Margin expansion in 3Q26F will be supported by a full-quarter impact of product price adjustments, while 4Q26F is expected to see continued improvement from a higher contribution of house brands.
SG&A/sales to be manageable, with limited impact from higher oil prices. HMPRO views higher transportation costs as manageable in 2H26F. It is able to pass through increased mid-mile transportation costs to suppliers, while last-mile delivery costs are partly offset by delivery fees charged on selected products. Thus, SG&A/sales is set to remain under control, with only a slight increase from more store expansion in 2H26.
2H26F sales growth to be driven by store expansion. We expect sales to continue growing YoY in 2H26F, supported primarily by aggressive store expansion, while maintaining a conservative view on SSS amid fragile consumer purchasing power. SSS We estimate July SSS at -1% YoY for HomePro and +1% YoY for MegaHome, improving from -3% YoY and -1% YoY in June, supported by a normal base despite muted demand from continued lower steel prices. With steel prices now below pre-war levels, downside risk to SSS appears limited, although weak consumer spending is likely to constrain a meaningful recovery. Store expansion. HMPRO plans to open 10 new stores in 2026F, in line with 2025, comprising five HomePro and five MegaHome stores. Nine of the new stores will be hybrid formats, which offer lower investment and operating costs while benefiting from cross-brand traffic and existing customer bases. With only two stores opened in 1H26, the remaining openings are scheduled for 2H26F, making store expansion the key driver of sales growth for the rest of the year.
Share repurchase continues. HMPRO’s latest share repurchase program, covering up to 394.5mn shares (3% of total shares) with a budget of up to Bt3bn, runs from Mar 1 to Aug 31. As of now, it had repurchased 63mn shares for Bt381mn at an average price of Bt6.1/share. Continued buybacks should provide ongoing support for the share price.
